Membership for the 2005/2006 year costs £25 per person. It is hoped that firms will be prepared to pay for these subs for which they will be entitled to a web link from the Member Firms page.

Members receive regular emails about forthcoming events, a BSYP name badge and subsidised prices at events.

Professionals
BSYP initially contacted local Solicitors, Accountants and Chartered Surveyors however we are keen to welcome other similar professionals to the group. Our definition of young is also vague as ages within BSYP range from 21 to late thirties!

BSYP Aims and Objectives

1. To create a social network of Young Professionals in Bishops Stortford.
   
   Members will receive email information from BSYP about forthcoming events or BSYP news. Members will be asked to promote to others within their organisations and outside to grow the membership. All emails will be copied to the local press to try and generate editorial cover for the events and BSYP itself. The BSYP website will be used to promote the group.
2. To arrange monthly social events in or near the town on the last Thursday of each month (where practical).
   
   A timetable of proposed events and dates will be produced by the start of the BSYP year (1st September).Whilst this will be subject to change we will aim for this to be events taking place on the last Thursday of each month at a local venue. Committee members will take turns in organising events and any other members who wish to be involved should be encouraged. Details of each event will be sent out at least 2 weeks ahead of the next event..
3. Ensure members meet other members.
   
   BSYP will use various random techniques to ensure that members mix at events so that all members have the opportunity to meet others within the group.
4. To promote BSYP and its sponsors through the website.
   
   BSYP will design and maintain www.bsyp.co.uk to promote BSYP activities including past, forthcoming and future events, details on membership, sponsors for main events and member firms with links to their websites (raising BSYP visibility). It is also intended to have a photo archive of past events.
5. To maintain a membership for which an annual charge is made.
   
   BSYP will charge an annual sum for membership. This will be used to pay for name badges, BSYP costs and subsidise BSYP events. Records will be maintained of all members.
6. To secure sponsorship from local business to support BSYP.
   
   As BSYP is a non profit organisation all funds will be welcome to support events for the membership. It is envisaged that there will be 2 types of sponsor – firstly "Member Firms" whose staff are members and secondly "Non Member Sponsors". In return for sponsorship of events sponsors can expect to see their names, logo and web-link on our site (and this would be the homepage if sponsoring the next event) and would be able to circulate their own promotional material at our events although we would resist the making of sales presentations. By its nature the BSYP's membership is likely to include young, upwardly mobile professionals who are likely to be of significant potential value to Non Member Sponsors.
7. To support and promote local business and community.
   
   As a local (and specifically Bishops Stortford) group we would aim to support wherever possible local community and business. We will therefore aim to use local venues and if making purchases on behalf of BSYP patronise local firms. If money is raised then proceeds will go to a local charity, nominated by the membership. Where goods and services do not exist in Bishops Stortford BSYP may need to look further afield.
8. To be fully accountable to the membership.
   
   As a group set up to represent members we will make ourselves fully accountable to the membership. This will mean financial transparency and accounts being made available to any members on request.
9. To keep contact with other Young Professionals organisations.
   
   Other Young Professionals groups exist and BSYP will monitor such organisations to see if there are ways in which we can improve what we do but also perhaps seek to arrange gatherings with such groups or inter-group tournaments.
